Synopsis[]
In his council chamber, Demiurge Solomon David is informed about the evolution of the war between Nadia Om and Mammon, and the dangers this poses to his Celestial Empire. Declaring it a petulant and childish conflict, he resolves to summon the Concordance of the Demiurges and put an end to it.
Before he leaves, however, his councilors move for him to alter his plans for succession, since the risk of all-out war looms in the horizon and he might die in the conflict. Solomon flatly refuses - he does not deem any of his biological sons (for that is what the wizened councilors are) worthy, after many generations, and so he'd rather have his crown and Key of Kings be passed on by bloodshed, ritualized in the Circle of Strength tournament.
After adjourning the disgruntled council, Solomon strolls to his palace's balcony, where he meets with his ward and prisoner - Zaid, Zoss' Successor without the King's Key. As they take a walk together to the construction site of the Circle of Strength's arena, Solomon boasts about the work of his life; a safe and prosperous empire that should last another ten thousand years. Its emperor, however, claims to be tired of his role of ruler and protector, and wishes to pass on his mantle to someone worthy enough of shouldering that responsibility while he moves on in his path to true Royalty.
When they arrive at the construction site, they find a division of soldiers working themselves raw to pull the heavy stone blocks into position faster than ordered, laboring day and night instead of returning home to their families. This show of devotion does not move Solomon, who instead orders them to stop at once and lifts the latest stone block singlehandedly. Ordering the soldiers to return to their loved ones, Solomon announces he will finish the work in that section himself.
Immediately afterwards, two guards come pick up Zaid to make him return to the palace, and he wonders where Allison is.
