Synopsis[]

It is poker night at the home inside the skull of UN-Gorun, and a mysterious harlequin walks towards it with a grin. At the table, we see Allison and her friends attempt to play poker, but White Chain's refusal to bluff makes it an unenjoyable experience. Annoyed by something, Cio walks out to smoke at the door, but refuses to communicate with Allison. Before the argument can escalate, however, the harlequin arrives before them and makes a mocking bow.

Like a circus ringmaster, the grimacing man begins an introduction as his body bloats and bubbles until it explodes in a shower of blood, revealing a mass of worms that rearrange themselves in the jolly image of Gog-Agog, one of the Seven Demiurges. Allison immediately punches her face in.

Without taking offence, Gog-Agog pulls her face back out and explains she has kept tabs on Allison for a long time thanks to her network of clones made out of unhappy people - and then offers her to eat one of her worms so she can become Gog-Agog herself. As Allison flatly refuses, the Demiurge moves on to the alternative; inviting her to join Solomon David's Ring of Power, which she hosts and can rig in her favour, so she can fight the Emperor, make him bleed and then demand the release of Zaid, who might be executed if Solomon believes is no longer useful as bait for Allison. Her offer made, Gog-Agog dissolves away in a melting puddle of worms and blood.

A heavy silence falls over the house after the news of Zaid's predicament and Gog-Agog's offer are shared. Cio chops food at the kitchen. White Chain insists that Allison is not ready, and that rushing in with no plans, as Princess suggests remembering the raid on Yre, would get them killed. Nyave, however, refuses to stand by - they must do something about it, even if it is foolish, just like Allison went to Mottom's palace and in the process saved her. This enabled her to see the Red City, an Angel, a bearer of a Key of Kings, and ultimately the Seven Demiurges themselves, as human, fallible people, with no right to tyrannize the Wheel.

Moved by her words, Allison agrees and stands up with her, supported by Princess. White Chain, disappointed, calls this foolishness. Allison looks for Cio's support as well, but she finds none - breaking into tears, the Blue Devil protests that she is happy with her current life, where she is safe and not causing any harm, and refuses to accompany Allison into this new deathtrap. Allison protests, but in the end she is forced to go to Rayuba without her.
